After a particularly tense episode of I’m A Celebrity on Thursday night (21 November), host Ant McPartlin has opened up about his visible frustration during Dean McCullough’s trial. The viewers picked up on Ant’s “seething” look, and he candidly admitted to being irritated with the campmate, confessing that he found it hard to hide his annoyance.
Dec Donnelly’s co-host acknowledged that he “wasn’t happy” with how he reacted, which was clear for all to see on the show, despite Dean showing some resistance. Ant called out his own behaviour as “unprofessional” and vowed to be more “kinder” to Dean in the future, even though he stood by his irritation after a string of trial tensions.
He had earlier asked Sam Thompson not to mention Dean before the broadcast. Yet, when Dean’s name came up again, Ant was questioned about the anger that was written all over his face during the challenge.
In the latest trial, Dean managed to get four stars but chose to bow out early, mirroring his action from two days earlier. After a day where he didn’t win any stars with GK Barry, Dean once again found himself in a tough spot and decided to call time on the trial early.
Ant’s displeasure was evident, and he didn’t hold back in addressing Dean’s choice to stop amidst the fish guts, as reported by the Mirror. On the companion show Unpacked, Sam expressed his disappointment, leading Ant to explain his feelings, stating: “You just get to the point where you think what are you doing?”, reports Belfast Live.
Host Joel Dommett called Ant the “bad cop” which Ant initially laughed off, but then he acknowledged that he wasn’t happy with how he appeared on screen. He lamented with an “Oh my God,” reaction to the fish guts ordeal and told his co-star Sam, “I told you not to talk to me about it Sam.” His candid admission followed, stating: “My annoyance came across on screen and it was unprofessional, and I am not happy about it. I will be kind to him today.”
Meanwhile, with another trial around the corner, Dean is stepping up alongside Danny Jones, Ant is prepared for the next round, while Dec showed his excitement for the challenge, remarking: “Danny is determined, he’s enthusiastic, he really wants to [do well], there’s no hiding for Dean now, he has to step up.”
Fans aired their thoughts on social media regarding Ant’s demeanor; one said: “Ant has had enough of Dean,” another shared: “Ant is so fed up.” Further Twitter reactions included: “Ant looks SEETHING and I feel it. Dean is not in the least bit entertaining,” and “You can tell Ant is so sick of Dean doing these trials already.”
