Coleen Rooney opened up about her husband’s unromantic proposal on the latest episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. The star spoke about the moment Wayne Rooney got down on one knee in 2003 and popped the question, at the time, Coleen was 17 and Wayne was only one year older. The campmates were expecting to hear details of romance, but Coleen revealed Wayne asked for her hand in marraige at a petrol station.
During the episode of I’m A Celeb (Sunday 1 December), the campmates had an opportunity to win their letters from home if they identified a sentimental phrase from their loved ones. Coleen had the phrase ‘petrol station’ from hubby Wayne, which she quickly identified as the location of his proposal.
Following the letters from home Reverend Richard Coles quizzed Coleen on Wayne proposing in a petrol station. She shared: “I knew it was gonna happen but I definitely didn’t know it was gonna be in a petrol station, but I’m glad we didn’t do it in a restaurant to be honest with you. We were only young, so we went back and had corned beef hash instead!”
Richard then spoke about his wedding, where he got married in a registry office, as he also revealed of his husband’s prized possession “and then he got a new car and that night I crashed it! I drove it through a hedge into a ditch!”
It’s not the first time Coleen has opened up about her personal life, in a previous episode, the star previously left her fellow campmates in shock after sharing details of her family home that’s reported to be worth £20m.
During Saturday night’s (November 30) episode, the 38-year-old didn’t hold back any details about her home with former football player Wayne, and their four sons. While Tulisa and GK Barry were cooking kangaroo tail, which the group won in yesterday’s TV-themed Bushtucker trial, Oti Mabuse asked Coleen if she had a club in her house.
The WAG shocked the contestants when she confessed: “We have a few bars.” Continuing to describe her Cheshire mansion, she added: “We have the common bar, where if people come back late we’ll have that and we use that for parties because it goes out onto the garden so we can open it up.” She then said that the property also features a football pitch. Officially named High Lake Manor, Coleen and Wayne’s house also has a swimming pool, cinema, gym and snooker room.
