It’s been five years since fans last saw Bex Fowler in Walford but the much-loved character, played by Jasmine Armfield, is now set to return to EastEnders for a brief stint.
Following the death of her dad Martin (James Bye) in the Queen Vic explosion, Bex returns to Albert Square to be with her family.
Plenty has happened since Bex exited London to go travelling, from her mum Sonia’s (Natalie Cassidy) imprisonment to the arrival of her baby sister Julia.
Actress Jasmine, 26, has shared her excitement over returning to EE, revealing fans will get to see a “more mature” version of Bex this time following her five-year absence.

She said: “It’s wonderful to be back at EastEnders and to see so many familiar faces. It’s amazing for me to come home, but for Bex, it’s an absolutely devastating time because she’s lost her dad.
“She’s grown up a lot, having spent the past few years travelling, so we’re going to see a much more mature and grown-up version of Bex this time around.”
It’s also been confirmed that Bex’s return will coincide with Martin’s funeral. EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jasmine home to EastEnders as part of Martin’s farewell.
“There’s no way that Bex would miss her dad’s funeral, and Sonia needs her eldest daughter more than ever. It’s been five years in which Bex has gone out into the world, so she’ll come back with renewed wisdom and experience.”
Since exiting EE in 2020, Jasmine has been busy with other TV shows and theatre productions. The actress appeared in BBC’s Doctors as Layla Roberts before starring in an episode of Casualty.

In 2022, she made her film debut in The Loneliest Boy in the World and the following year, Jasmine made her stage debut as Amy in Jumping the Shark.
The 26 year old, who studied at the Pauline Quirke Academy for the Performing Arts, has largely kept her private life under wraps since leaving EastEnders, with her Instagram account now only featuring a handful of snaps from her time working on Jumping the Shark.
EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm. Episodes are also released on BBC iPlayer at 6am
