There’s a new face in Emmerdale as Christine Tremarco has joined the soap. Playing the role of Rose, a woman who is known to Kim’s husband Will Taylor, Rose is sure to ruffle some feathers when she arrives onto our screens.
Speaking about landing a role on the popular ITV show, Liverpool-born Christine explained that she was “thrilled” about the exciting news.
“I am thrilled to be joining Emmerdale! To be working with such a wonderful cast and crew along with the brilliant writing and production team is an absolute joy!,” she said. “Rose is so much fun to play. She is free spirited, boisterous and totally mischievous with a steely edge and a big heart.”
But while Emmerdale may be the actress’ latest booking, TV viewers may be familiar with 47 year old Christine’s other roles on the small screen. Having been scouted at a drama group during her teens, the actress has since appeared in show’s including Silent Witness, Fat Friends and The Responder.
Meanwhile, between 2007 and 2009 she starred in Waterloo Road where she played Davina Shackleton who was a school secretary – a role she says reminded her of her past.
“I remember how much I loved being around my friends all day. I went to an all-girls’ school and I really enjoyed it, although it could be a bit mischievous,” she told the BBC in 2007 when asked about her own time at school.
“The first time I walked onto the Waterloo Road set, it brought memories flooding back. But it also made me feel old! Also, because I only joined the cast this year, it was a bit like my first day at school – I was the only new girl!”
Then in 2011, she secured a role on Casualty where she played Linda Andrews for two years until saying goodbye to the show in 2013. Prior to taking up the role, Christine revealed that she’d spent time with a nurse so she could understand the role as well as possible.
“I spent time with a real nurse who was incredibly helpful and I also spent time in a hospital. And we also have medical advisors on the show who are amazing and always on hand to help with anything medical that’s tricky,” she told Seen It in 2011.
“I’m quite a squeamish person and I don’t like blood so I really have admiration for real nurses.”
More recently, in 2017 she could be found in ITV series Little Boy Blue where she played Marie Thompson.
