Ben Shephard was on hand to keep things light-hearted on This Morning when co-host Nick Ferrari divulged a bit too much information about his wedding night, prompting Ben to chime in with “enough”.
Radio legend Nick Ferrari, 66, has been floating on cloud nine since he popped the question to his sweetheart, Clare Patterson, at the beginning of this year.
Nick found himself in the thick of a lively chat on marriage, and men’s waistlines after new statistics showed husbands tend to gain more weight post-wedding than their wives.
In the midst of a hearty discussion with ITV favourites Cat Deeley and Ben, Nick candidly shared his own fitness journey in light of the findings, despite the hosts’ surprise they’d assumed his recent weight loss was all for the upcoming nuptials.
Cat sparked the convo with: “New research has found that married men are more likely to pile on the pounds once they get the ring on their finger,” reports Wales Online.
She turned the spotlight on Nick, highlighting his past experience and a soon-to-repeat trip down the aisle: “You’ve been there in the past, Nick, and you’ve got another one coming, so you’ve got hindsight and future.”
Nick shocked everyone with his next surprising revelation, especially since the hosts had all assumed he had slimmed down for the photos, fittings, and nothing else.
Anticipating tying the knot shortly, Nick explained: “None of you have said well done, I have actually shed quite a lot of weight so the idea that I’ll now put it all back on again is quite disheartening.”
Nick had a bit of a slip-up on air, causing quite a stir in the studio. He cheekily said: “I’ve shed some weight so that on the wedding night… the wedding night. Sorry.”
The room erupted with gasps and laughter as Nick quickly realised his blunder. With a mischievous smile, he joked, “Thank god this isn’t going out live,” before swiftly correcting himself: “On the wedding day, I can dance to Single Ladies.”
Still chuckling, Nick confessed: “Oh, that went so badly wrong.” Despite efforts to move on, the chat circled back to his wedding night until Ben stepped in to restore order, firmly stating: “Enough about Nick’s wedding night.”
