During Friday’s [13, December] episode of This Morning, Alison, 49, and co-host Dermot O’Leary came back from an advert break, where they were discussing the latest headlines. However, they were confused to hear Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. playing out, prompting a confused Alison to remark: “Where’s the Christmas song?” to which Dermot, 51, added: “I don’t understand? It’s a killer of a tune but what’s it got to do with Christmas?”
The sound of The Grinch, who had been popping up during the show with various appearances including chaotic tea-spilling in the green room, was suddenly heard as they started laughing before making wind noises live on air. The Grinch teased: “Attention This Morning shoppers, it is I, The Grinch, not so festive anymore?,” before adding: “I’m in charge of the jukebox now, I can play anything I want and no Christmas songs, just flatulence!”

Laughing, Alison was quick to remark after the loud sound effects: “Oh my God, this is so embarrassing! I’m so sorry, we’ve got to get rid of him [The Grinch], get him out of here! Listen, if you’ve just tuned in, we do apologise, The Grinch is here!”
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to react to The Grinch appearance as one person said: “The Grinch is hilarious on #Thismorning”, a different viewer wrote: “Hahaha the grinch fs #ThisMorning” while another put: “I’m not really watching today, but have they said who is in the Grinch outfit? Are they going to do a reveal at the end of the show? #thismorning.”
It comes as This Morning revealed on social media that The Grinch would be appearing on Friday’s show in an Instagram video.
They penned alongside a video: “Get ready for some who-liday cheer as the Grinch takes over our set today! But will he make it past security? Tune in from 10am on ITV1, STV and ITVX to find out!”

In the clip, The Grinch says: “People! The audience of This Morning! Not this morning but This Morning! It’s two different things!
“If you’re ready for a little who-liday cheer, a little holiday sassy excitement, tune in to This Morning at 10am. I’ll be there to ransack the set, assuming I can get past security. We all have our goals! Later, losers!” as they pulled an animated face.
The Grinch also joined in with Alison and Dermot for an agony aunt, problem solving section where the mean, green one ‘helped’ viewers who called in with their own Grinch-like festive issues, with The Grinch almost landing himself a date with one, who invited him to her house for a seasonal cuppa.

He also hilariously swapped out other staff pictures and added framed versions of himself alongside another This Morning host, Ben Shepherd, firmly securing his spot on the This Morning team.
The Grinch has made an appearance on This Morning before, joining the gang last year to cause the first dose of morning madness – and has travelled far to get here, usually spending the festivities in Whoville, in Universal Orlando Resort’s Islands of Adventure, in Orlando, Florida.
