ITV This Morning’s Ben Shephard cut off by Anton Du Beke over Giovanni Pernice question

Anton Du Beke has opened up about his forthcoming tour with Giovanni Pernice, even interrupting This Morning host Ben Shephard while discussing the anticipation surrounding their new venture.

During a visit to This Morning, Anton discussed his forthcoming tour with his pal. Giovanni made headlines last year after exiting Strictly following allegations of misconduct from his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington, which he strongly denied.

“You’re going on tour in the summer with Gio, of course,” Ben ventured, to which Anton energetically replied: “Yes, we’re going out in the summer which we’re looking forward to.”

As Ben began discussing public feedback: “The reaction to you guys being together is…”, Anton eagerly interjected with: “Wonderful!

“We call the show Together Again and I haven’t seen him for a few months, he’s been away in Italy doing the Italian show, he’s been on the road doing his show so we’re getting together in May and I’m looking forward to it.”

He further shared his excitement about their collaboration: “It will be lovely. I’m looking forward to it, I think we’re going to do some new numbers and some old numbers because we’ve done a lot together and some great stuff. So I think we might revisit one or two great numbers that we’ve done in the past”, reports the Mirror.

Adding a reflective note, Anton said: “You know what it’s like, you do these shows and you go, ‘Oh, I may never do that again.’ It will be lovely.”

Last month, Anton appeared on Good Morning Britain and discussed the possibility of Giovanni’s return to Strictly Come Dancing. Presenter Richard Madeley posed a challenging question, saying: “It’s been reported that you personally would welcome Giovanni Pernice back onto Strictly.

“We know that the BBC upheld six bullying complaints against him, didn’t uphold others, but you would welcome him back. That’s sticking your head above the parapet. Why would you do that?”

Anton responded: “That’s a very good question,” but chose not to provide a complete answer. Instead, he diverted the conversation: “I’d prefer to be talking about the golf.

“I was delighted for Giovanni this autumn because he went over to Italy and did the Strictly Come Dancing there and he won with the brilliant Bianca [actress Bianca Guaccero]. He was delighted to win that and we’re going off on tour this summer so I’ll be seeing him when we go back out on the road.”

Giovanni stepped back from Strictly last year following claims by Amanda that he had fostered a “toxic environment” on the show and alleged instances of “inappropriate, mean, nasty bullying” directed at her. The Italian dancer has refuted any indication of abusive or threatening actions and welcomed the outcome of the BBC probe that sustained “some, but not all” of the complaints lodged by the actress.

Last year, Giovanni said he was ‘happy’ after an investigation cleared him of allegations of abuse on the BBC show made by former dance partner Amanda.

He said in a post: “It’s over, it’s finished, six months, seven months of all of this”, adding: “But today I’m happy because, at the beginning there were very, very serious allegations thrown out at me but today, none of the serious allegations have been upheld. All the threatening, abusive, harassment behaviour allegations have not been upheld.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITV X.
