ITV’s The Chase host Bradley Walsh reminded of past behaviour as he recognises familiar face

Bradley Walsh, the host of The Chase, was left gobsmacked when he recognised a contestant on a recent episode of the ITV quiz show. On Wednesday’s episode (January 29), the much-loved presenter welcomed four new contestants to the studio to test their general knowledge.

The former Coronation Street actor introduced Rachel, Sian, Noel and Jon to the programme, where they were all set to compete for the coveted cash prize. However, as Jon stepped up for his cash builder round, Bradley did a double-take, telling him his “face looks familiar”.

In an unexpected turn of events, Jon revealed that he and Bradley had played in a charity football match together two decades ago, even recalling some of Bradley’s less than sportsmanlike behaviour during the game. As the retail marketing consultant from Cheshire chatted about his job and hobbies, Brad interrupted, saying: ” For some peculiar reason, I do recognise your face. Why do I recognise your face?”

Jon then explained: “We actually played against each other for a charity match you were playing for Rod Stewart’s all-stars. There were three games, one at Wembley, one in Wigan and one at Rod’s house.”

He then recounted a hilarious incident that saw Brad fuming over a decision during the match, reports the Express.

During the show, the host brought up a memorable moment from their past, saying: “The Wembley one was interesting because you broke through and had a shot – it was a screamer over the top of my head, I didn’t get to it, it hit the side of the bar, bounced down with spin, came back out to me and we played on and you were going absolutely mad.”

Brad responded with a questioning tone: “Was I?”

The host continued: “You weren’t happy because the referee was saying play on, so I played on – you were saying ‘it was over the line’. I was saying it wasn’t. Brad I’ve got to tell you; 20 years ago – it wasn’t.”

Brad chuckled and agreed: “it wasn’t over the line”.

The host playfully replied: “No it wasn’t,” through laughter and added: “Well its lovely to see you again,” as they moved on with the game.

Chaser Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan soon joined in, teasing: “Well you beat Brad at least!!

The game progressed, with Jon and Noel successfully making it back to the team and securing £10k. However, player Sian was outsmarted by the chaser, who was in top form.

Next up was law student Rachel, who, despite a modest £2k in her cash builder round, decided to take a risk and aim for the top offer of £50k. Unfortunately, after getting the first two questions wrong, she was quickly caught, leaving the team with just two players in the final chase.

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX
