ITV’s This Morning in chaos as schedule gets shake up live on air

This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were thrown into a bit of a tight spot when producers decided to shake up the usual schedule, causing chaos on the live show.

Usually, the fan-favourite game Spin To Win is played around midday, towards the end of the programme. However, for reasons unknown, ITV bosses decided to bring the prize-winning game forward on Thursday (January 23).

Spin To Win aired before 11am and those who had entered were clearly not ready for the hosts to call at a different time – leaving Ben and Cat in an awkward spot live on air.

In their usual style, Cat and Ben started to call those who had applied for a chance to win. The rules state that each entrant must answer the phone within six rings and they also need to say the passphrase too.

By the time the presenters had dialled the third person, it was clear there was a problem. Ben exclaimed: “It’s because we’ve changed the time, they aren’t expecting our call,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

Moving on to caller four, things looked promising as the person picked up the call on the fourth ring but failed to follow the rules and answered saying: “Hello,” instead of the key passphrase.

At this point, it was obvious that Ben and Cat were starting to worry about what would happen if they ran out of options for a contender to play the game. They turned to producers once more, asking: “How many have we got left? “.

Cat and Ben experienced a tense moment on This Morning when they realised there were only six potential callers for the game segment, with only one chance left as the fifth call went unanswered. As the tension mounted while waiting for the final ring, it was clear they needed an alternative plan when no one picked up.

Spin to Win continues on Friday

For the first time since stepping into Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s shoes last year, the duo had never encountered the lack of a caller ready to play. Seeking assistance from the show’s producers once more, Cat, the former SMTV Live icon, announced, “It’s a rollover,” leading her Tipping Point colleague to enthusiastically spin the wheel.

This surprise twist promises that Friday’s lucky contestant will have the opportunity to win twice the usual bounty.

This Morning is on ITV1 weekdays at 10am and on ITVX
