In a new promo produced for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, Timothée Chalamet joined Kendrick Lamar for a drive and a chat about their artistry.
“In the studio, if it’s been a while, you might come off with a bit of writer’s block,” Kendrick kicked off the chat, stressing the importance of exercising his talents as often as possible. He asked the A Complete Unknown star if he ever takes a moment to get comfortable in front of the camera again if he’s not acted in a while.
“I try to prep at home, but the thing about acting is, if you don’t have an audience, it’s just a form of insanity,” Timothée responded. “And you’re just, what are you doing? So I definitely try to warm up and then, you know, lose that self-consciousness when you finally get back out there. But that takes time. I always try to embrace failure—you were talking about that the other day—the most important part of a bad day is the way you leave it.”
Kendrick said that his “form of sanity” is keeping “the pen moving,” which also allows him to learn more about himself. “When you’re writing, man, you gotta sit and go through the emotions and be vulnerable about it,” he continued. “Whether it’s a fun song or sad, or got some type of depth or not.”
Near the end of the video, Timothée expressed how much of a fan he is of Kendrick and congratulated him on landing the Super Bowl Halftime Show. “Just being a fan of your music forever and knowing like, look where you’re at now, man, it’s just crazy,” he said. “You just keep climbing, bro. It’s amazing.”
While it might seem like a strange link-up, Kendrick Lamar and Timothée Chalamet are undoubtedly at the top of their game right now. They also happen to share a stylist in Taylor McNeill.
As Timothée explained in another clip ahead of the Super Bowl, which can be seen in the post above, he’ll be in attendance and he’s just as excited as the rest of us to see what Kendrick has in store.
