The latest episode of The Kardashians saw a tense exchange between Khloe Kardashian and her ex-husband Lamar Odom over his past drug abuse. The couple, who were married from September 2009 to December 2016, hadn’t spoken in nearly a decade since their split.
Their reunion on the show was sparked by Khloe reaching out to Lamar about some of his belongings she’d kept, leading to a meet-up at Khloe’s friend Malika Haqq’s house. During their conversation, they discussed their marriage, Lamar’s drug use and his 2015 overdose, as well as Khloe’s decision to ask him to leave after supporting his recovery. Things heated up when Lamar’s overdose was brought up, with Lamar denying he had taken cocaine before his Las Vegas overdose and claiming he was drugged – a claim Khloe made clear she didn’t believe.

In an intense exchange, she confronted him: “You have no idea what happened that day. Thank god. But I do. Don’t talk about if if you’re not going to be honest,” and detailed the harrowing ordeal, “I was there when your father said pull the plug so he can be on your life insurance. I was there. So was Kim, so was my mom. I was there when you had 6 heart attacks, 12 strokes. We transferred you from Vegas to Cedars, I was there for it all, I was there for you for four months. I got staph infection because I lived in a hospital.”
She didn’t hold back as she continued her recount: “Why on earth would someone … you can’t talk, I had to teach you hot from cold, diapers, how to walk, all that. You had enough awareness to get a burner phone to call a drug dealer to get what you needed to get, to send security away, to do what you needed to do for me to find out and for me to punch you in the face. I punched you in the face and shattered everything in that house,” reports the Mirror.
During their heartfelt conversation, Lamar opened up about his feelings, confessing: “I love you for trying your hardest with me. Love, I don’t think it’ll ever go away, I know it won’t. I’m a very spiritual person. You marry somebody, you get married in front of God.” Khloe’s response was firm: “I don’t think you make that commitment if you can’t honour it. That’s on you.”
She later reflected on the situation to the cameras, revealing her past warnings to him: “I told him many times what he would be losing if he didn’t turn his life around. ‘I didn’t just let go, trust me,’ she asserted. ‘You don’t always get second chances and you can’t keep doing f**ked up s**t and expect people to stay around.'”
The pair went on to talk about their broken relationship and how his drug addiction had impacted their marriage. Khloe asked Lamar what finally made him quit drugs.
He responded that he wanted to be there for his kids – he has a son and a daughter with ex-girlfriend Liza Morales – and to gain their respect. Lamar also shared his hopes for his future relationship with Khloe. “I guess in due time, if you give me the opportunity, you’ll see how genuine and a changed man [I am]. And I’m probably cool enough to be your friend,” he expressed. “As I grow older and start to realise what I might have affected because of that, [it’s] hurtful.”

The drama didn’t stop there as the ex-couple decided to FaceTime Kris Jenner, and Lamar spoke to his former mother-in-law. “I’m so much better now, now I’m with the love of my life over here. Praying her to forgive me and all this other s**t,” he said, referring to a surprised Kris as “mom.”
Kris later emotionally discussed Khloe and Lamar’s reunion. “That had to be hard for him to walk in. I feel a lot of forgiveness for him and obviously love him and felt bad that he had this addiction that he couldn’t control,” she confessed.
“And I was devastated for my child who – that was the love of her life and she thought that was her happily after and it didn’t work out that way for them. It’s a lot. It’s a lot to wrap my head around.”
Khloe, reflecting on her reunion with Lamar, admitted to the cameras that their past has changed her: “Today was a lot, to say the least. I do know that I feel relieved, I feel proud of myself,” she revealed. “I feel like this is part of my shedding process while I’m preparing to get into my fourth decade of life.”
