There is now just over three months to go until what look likes being the biggest event of the year in Newcastle – the Come Together festival and the line-up for the closing night headlined by Kings of Leon has just had some top notch support acts added to it.
There was a lot of excitement in the autumn when plans were first revealed for Come Together, taking over the Town Moor in June, before things then went up a notch with the announcement that Take That icon and solo megastar Robbie Williams would be kicking things off on June 4 and Sex on Fire and Use Somebody rockers Kings of Leon will be bringing the curtain down on June 8.
Along with KoL, Not Nineteen Forever legends Courteeners will be on stage at the Moor on the same night and now, anyone who has got a ticket for June 8, or is considering getting one, can now look forward to a full bill of great music, as this week, following the Come Together press launch in Newcastle city centre, the likes of The Cribs, The Snuts and Reyton have been officially confirmed.
Among the fresh talents also on the line-up for June 8, Nieve Ella stands out with her heartfelt lyrics and soulful indie-pop sound, while Newcastle’s own Chloe Slater showcases her storytelling prowess with a blend of folk and indie melodies. For those seeking something avant-garde, Du Blonde masterfully fuses punk, rock, and art-pop into exhilarating performances, and the ethereal harmonies of Luvcat offer a dreamy escape.
Fans of alternative rock will appreciate the compelling lyricism of Overpass, while Tom A. Smith, a prodigious talent from the North East, is bound to impress with his guitar-driven anthems. The Rosadocs bring their Sheffield-born indie rock with emotive lyrics and catchy riffs, and local favourite Kerr Mercer delivers acoustic sets packed with sincerity and relatable narratives. On the other end of the spectrum, GIRLBAND! is ready to shake things up with their high-energy punk performances, defying conventions and electrifying the crowd.
Blending rock and pop, Lucia & The Best Boys captivate with powerful vocals, while emerging artist Aaron Rowe brings a soulful touch to the lineup. Folk-inspired act Real Farmer offers a rustic charm, and Liam Fender, with his North East roots and renowned surname, delivers a distinctive rock-infused set. Experimental sounds come into play with Basht., known for their genre-merging approach, and electronic artist Dolder, who crafts immersive soundscapes. Rounding out the lineup, Cortney Dixon adds an indie-pop sparkle with her captivating voice and melodic sensibilities.
