Lil Wayne Hops on Gelo’s “Tweaker” Remix

Gelo’s “Tweaker” hit just received a second wind.

A month after the record’s debut, the athlete-turned-rapper unleashed its official remix featuring Lil Wayne.

“Weezy F., and the F is for features, baby,” the New Orleans legend rapped on the track. “I went from the bleachers, baby, to beaches, baby/To each his own, gotta own, I can’t lease it, baby/I’m beastin’, baby, I beast like I’m obese and lazy/ And if they sleepin’ on a GOAT, they countin’ sheep then, baby.”

Gelo — born LiAngelo Ball — spoke about the collaboration in a recent interview with Billboard, revealing his first reaction to Weezy’s verse.

That’s like hooping with [Michael] Jordan,” he told the outlet. “He back on that Dedication type of sound. That boy was flowing… I didn’t connect with him until my managers and them showed me his song. I hit him up on the ’Gram like, ‘Your verse is hard as hell. That’s what we was missing on our sh*t.’ He was a cool dude. He was like, ‘I hope you mess with the verse.’ That verse is tough.”

On Thursday night, Gelo hopped on a live stream with Plaqueboymax where he debuted a unreleased track called “Can You Please?”

Produced by KUNICA and Glockiecheez, “Tweaker” is widely considered the first hip-hop hit of 2025, as it has entered the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and peaked at No. 29 on the Hot 100. He told Billboard that the song’s viral success “definitely caught [him] off-guard,” but was confident his next songs will make an even bigger splash.

“I’m ready to get stuff moving now,” said Gelo, who signed to Def Jam earlier this year. “I got some songs to put together for y’all… I like some of my songs better than ‘Tweaker’ … I think y’all gonna like ‘em more, too.”

Gelo said his next song release will be “Can You Please?,” a cut he described as “a little different.” It’s unclear if his 2025 tracks are stand-alones or part of his full-length project, which is purportedly right around the corner.

“Be expecting an album soon,” he told the outlet. “Me, personally, I feel like I’m done. I gotta make three more songs. I gotta make songs for fun right now. I could put out an album. It’s not for fun, it’s very official. I could put an album together right now, but I still want to touch up some things, put some new songs, get some features going.”

Upon the release of “Tweaker,” Boosie Badazz and Moneybagg Yo expressed their interest in remixing the song. Although that doesn’t seem to be the case now with just Weezy on it.

You can stream the Weezy-assisted “Tweaker” remix on Apple Music and Spotify.
