Lil Xan has people in his corner that are encouraging his ongoing sobriety.
The rapper was hosting a celebratory dinner in Los Angeles on Monday night (February 3) when TMZ caught up with him. After greeting the outlet, the 28-year-old shared that the occasion was dedicated to his new milestone in sobriety.
“Three years sober—that’s important,” Xan told the reporter.
Lil Xan, who’s also signed to music label 3rd Eye Recordings under Universal Music Group, expressed that his journey abstaining from drugs and alcohol has been “really good.”
“I’m around the right people right now,” he said before introducing his label’s founder, K-R.O.K., formerly of 1990s rap and soul duo P.M. Dawn.
On remaining sober, Xan thanked his girlfriend, along with his parents and new music team. “It’s a lot of great, great stuff going on right,” he continued. “So I’m just very blessed and grateful.”
The reporter also asked about Xan assaulting a concertgoer last November, which the “Betrayed” rapper refrained from discussing due to the “legal case,” but promised that it would “never again” happen. During the incident, Xan pelted a microphone at a man and kicked him in the head, resulting in a scuffle that security had to break up.
The California native has struggled with substance abuse for the last five years, going to rehab on and off.
