Lorraine Kelly’s no-show on her programme led to a playful jibe from comedian Jason Manford, who suggested that stand-in host Christine Lampard should get top billing. With Christine at the helm on Friday, (May 10) viewers were left wondering about Lorraine’s whereabouts.
Christine and Jason had a delightful catch-up about his current tour and his career beginnings. After their chat, Christine expressed how lovely it was to talk to him, as usual, reports The Express.
Jason playfully remarked: “So nice,” before cheekily proposing that the studio screen should bear Christine’s name instead of Lorraine’s. “It needs to say Christine on there,” he quipped.

Christine was momentarily taken aback by the suggestion but quickly dismissed the idea and said it was “nice” to see Lorraine’s name up there. Not missing a beat, Jason then recommended adding a small asterisk with Christine’s name, which she conceded might be a good compromise.
Christine has been stepping in for Lorraine so often that viewers are clamouring for her to take over the reins permanently. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans have been vocal about their support for Christine.

One fan gushed: “#Lorraine Really think Christine should front the show permanently. She is natural, honest and a far better interviewer.” A second simply urged: “Come on Christine.” Another viewer expressed their preference with: “Please can we keep Christine Lampard on #lorraine? She’s lovely and comes across as competent in the role.” A fourth added: “The may as well rename it to occasionally Lorraine.”
Curiosity about Christine’s thoughts on the opening credits was raised by another fan: “#lorraine I wonder what Christine thinks when the rolling credits at the start of the programme showing Lorraine beaming at the camera, are shown.”

According to an account that keeps tabs on Lorraine’s appearances, the TV host has been at the helm for 63 out of 94 episodes this year, with her stand-ins stepping in for the rest. According to the tally, Christine has taken the reins for 19 episodes, while Ranvir Singh has hosted 11 and Louise Minchin has presented one.
Apart from today’s episode (May 10), it’s pretty standard for Lorraine to take a breather during half terms and bank holidays. When the host took a brief hiatus last year to concentrate on her first book, fans were left wondering if she’d ever make a comeback.
