Married at First Sight Australia fans admitted they were “so uncomfortable” after a groom’s “nasty” task admission on Thursday (March 13).
The 12th season of the hit match making experiment began airing on E4 last week, and hasn’t been short of drama and shocking revelations.
Tonight’s episode saw the continuation of Confessions Week, with the couples taking part in a series of tasks to get to know each other better.
After a few successful photo ranking challenges, it was then the turn of Ashleigh and Jake.
The pair bonded instantly when they met on their wedding day, and enjoyed a drama free honeymoon. However, things took a turn tonight when Jake made several shocking comments while ranking the other brides.
“I’ll just try to be as honest and truthful as possible here,” Jake began, before placing Jacqui last because she has “crazy eyes”.

“Sierah… kind of like an intimidating look that she has to her, like her face screams, ‘I could stab you in your sleep’,” he continued.
In a particularly shocking moment, Jake said of Awhina: “Not gonna sound like… not racist or nothing, but I do like Caucasian people mainly, mostly.”
He then said that Rhi “might have a lazy eye” and placed Carina at the top of his list because she is “conventionally pretty”, adding: “But she knows it, let’s be real.”
To create even more tension, Jake then placed Ashleigh in the middle of the group, leaving her speechless.
“How dare you say these unhinged things about these gorgeous women? It can be honest without being hurtful and nasty,” Ashleigh said, before Jake insisted that it was “just a joke”.

“That really p***ed me off. I’m not a naturally vicious person and you’re making it out to me like I am. I don’t need that s***,” Jake added, before storming out of the room.
MAFS viewers were also left speechless by the remarks, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their disapproval.
“What harsh words, Jake. That was nasty, not a joke at all,” one person wrote, while another added: “That was foul.”
“Jake is a teacher as well. Displaying a shocking lack of emotional intelligence. And I hate people who say messed up things then call it banter or a joke,” another shared.
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: “Jake’s true colours racing to the surface right now.. wow! What a joke.”
Married at First Sight Australia airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 7.30pm
