MAFS Australia fans say ‘oh no’ after bride Katie’s ‘devastating’ realisation in show twist

Married at First Sight Australia fans said “oh no” after bride Katie’s “devastating” realisation in a show twist on Wednesday (March 12).

Fans have eagerly been watching the 12th season of the hit match making experiment, following its premiere on E4 last week.

After last night’s explosive first dinner party, tonight’s episode saw the newlyweds move into their shared apartments for the start of confessions week.

While most of the group happily started unpacking in their new homes, bride Katie was forced to move in alone, following a dramatic bust up with her husband, Tim.

Despite seeming like a solid match on paper, Tim quickly made it clear that he wasn’t attracted to Katie, pulling producers aside to say that there wasn’t a “spark”.

Katie and Tim have had a turbulent relationship since their wedding day

Katie was determined to build a connection on their honeymoon, but Tim refused to cooperate. However, at the dinner party, he told his co-stars that he had been “making the most effort” in the relationship – a confession that left Katie speechless.

After being called out on his actions by the rest of the group, an angry Tim then walked out of the dinner party early.

Despite their turbulent relationship, tonight’s episode saw Katie share her optimism that a connection could grow while the pair live in close quarters.

However, the producers had some bad news to share. Tim had made the decision not to move into the apartments, and had chosen to fly back home to Melbourne instead.

In a first for the reality show, a devastated Katie then watched her husband’s audition tape, which left her speechless, as Tim’s words didn’t match up with his actions towards her.

In the clip, Tim said that he wanted a “typical happy ending” with a “natural person”. He also made it clear that he would be “willing to give it a go” with someone, even if he didn’t feel an initial attraction towards them.

“That was full of lies. That was just complete and utter bulls***. He’s got some answering to do,” a tearful Katie said, before throwing her wedding ring across the table.

The clip left MAFS viewers up in arms, too, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustrations, with one writing: “Oh no, that just made things so much worse for Katie.”

“Tim tells people what they want to hear to save face. His words and actions have not lined up,” another added, while a third said: “That interview video backfired on Tim.”

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: “TIM HAS BEEN EXPOSED AS THE LIAR HE IS. Thank you producers for showing the audition clip of him for the naysayers.”

Married at First Sight Australia airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 7.30pm
