Man arrested as 1,000 cannabis plants seized from former County Durham restaurant

A man has been arrested as a cannabis farm was discovered in a former County Durham restaurant.

Durham Constabulary seized around 1,000 cannabis plants from the former Ranch Meat House restaurant on Stockton Road in Seaham on Monday morning. The plants will be forensically examined in the coming days.

Ranch Meat House, which was known for American style food, closed its doors to customers in January this year.

A statement from Durham police read: “Police were called shortly after 10am this morning (December 16) to reports of cannabis grow inside an address on Stockton Road, Seaham.

“Around 1,000 plants have been seized from within. A man found inside the property has been arrested in connection with the incident.”
