Wayne Rooney has scored a new career opportunity following his departure from Plymouth Argyle management. The former Manchester United and England ace called time on his stint with the club after a dire sequence of results saw the Greens rooted to the bottom of the Championship standings.
Rooney managed just five victories in the 25 games he led Argyle. He was given his marching orders just a week before he was due on Wearside with his side to take on Sunderland.
Post-departure, the 39 year old has been vocal about his eagerness to return to the managerial arena; however, his next immediate role will be back in a field he also knows well.
Rooney is slated to join the punditry team on Amazon Prime’s Champions League coverage this Tuesday (February 11), providing his expert analysis for Manchester City’s significant encounter with football heavyweights Real Madrid. The former man United star has had plenty of experience as a pundit previously, working for Sky Sports where he received rave reviews for his analysis and forthright opinions.
After cutting ties with Plymouth Argyle, Rooney took on the role of ambassador for Football Escapes, set to run a children’s training camp.
He’s due to grace the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai from Monday (February 17) until Friday (February 21) for this engagement.
Football Escapes’ website is luring parents and their offspring with an enticing offer: “This is your chance to give your kids the opportunity to train with one of football’s greatest icons,” reports Plymouth Live.
The site reveals that packages for this exclusive holiday and coaching experience for a family of four commence at prices ranging from £4650 to £8650.
Argyle, meanwhile, have had an upturn in fortunes since parting company with Rooney. They still sit at the bottom of the Championship table but drew 2-2 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light before enjoying one of the great FA Cup upsets in recent times when they beat Premier League leaders Liverpool 1-0 at the weekend.
