Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan avoid awkward run-in with Lauren Goodger at celeb hotspot

The Wright family, including Mark Wright and his wife Michelle Keegan, went all out for Big Mark’s birthday celebration at Sheesh in Essex, with James Argent providing the night’s entertainment. However, the party took a surprising turn when it was discovered that Lauren Goodger was also at the venue, with her TOWIE pals Joe Blackman and Junaid Ahmed.

Mark’s sister Jess Wright was spotted entering the popular Essex hotspot, passing Lauren’s parked Range Rover on her way in. To avoid any awkward encounters, Mark and Michelle made a low-key entrance through a fire exit, successfully avoiding both Lauren and the paparazzi. Their UZU Range Rover was later brought around to the car park for a quick getaway.

Lauren and Mark had an on-and-off relationship for over a decade, starting as teenagers and long before they appeared on The Only Way Is Essex together. The former lovebirds were once engaged but called it quits for good in 2012. Mark then married Michelle in May 2015.

Earlier this year, Lauren revealed how her ex-fiancé goes out of his way to ignore her when they bump into each other. She explained how she and Mark use the same gym, but he gives her the cold shoulder to the point where they’ve even queued up next to each other in silence.

Both stars rose to fame on the ITVBe series, but it seems their shared history hasn’t led to a close bond today. Lauren admits there’s still a “sort of love from childhood” that lingers, but conversation is now off-limits despite frequent polite encounters.

In September, Lauren revealed the peculiar situation: “We do see each other, but we don’t speak at all. It’s very, very strange. I would happily say hello, but if I’m not wanted somewhere, I shut off,” adding, “We go to the same gym and stuff, and we don’t live far from each other. I’ve stood next to him in a queue before at the gym and it is awkward.”

She elaborated that while he has moved on with his life, she respects that, yet wishes they could exchange simple greetings, which has never happened. Lauren, now a mum to daughter Larose with ex Charles Drury, reminisced about a time when Mark, before his marriage to TV favourite Michelle, made her a promise about building a future together, to which she eagerly responded, “Of course I do”.

Lauren acknowledges that Mark has built a future with Michelle, with the pair living in their dream £3.5 million Essex home together. Despite their history, Lauren insists she harbours no bitterness and is genuinely “happy for him”, claiming to be “proud of him”.

However, her emotional chat on Paul C Brunson‘s We Need to Talk podcast didn’t sit well with some, including her ex. One online user commented: “I feel bad for her, she needs to leave him alone. There’s no reason they would need to talk to each other.”

Following the social media backlash, a source close to Mark and Michelle responded, reports the Mirror. A source revealed: “It’s not that Michelle can’t sympathise with Lauren or is cross with her, she doesn’t know her at all, but she doesn’t like what she reads when Lauren talks about her,” adding, “Mark also gets annoyed and he’s very protective of his wife and family. He doesn’t like them being brought up by Lauren, especially as it was so long ago. It’s ancient history for him.”
