Marks & Spencer has had shoppers rushing to stores to get hold of its latest Christmas dinner mash-ups that have been branded a “game changer” for foodies.
The high street retailer has promised customers that it has “outdone” itself this festive season with the “ultimate” Christmas creations to be found in its Food Halls. If you love your traditional yuletide staples such as turkey and pigs in blankets but want to switch it up to something a little different this year, M&S has you covered with some unconventional choices.
One of the stars of the show that has particularly turned heads on social media is the new Pigs In Blanket Mac ‘N’ Cheese dish, featuring pasta in extra mature cheddar cheese sauce topped with pigs in blankets, extra smoked bacon and a cranberry crumb. Priced at £9, the mouth-watering dish was quick to catch the attention of shoppers when M&S showed it off on its Instagram page, with the post racking up hundreds of comments.
“Two of the greatest foods of all time combined?! Christmas miracle,” one shopper rejoiced, while someone else declared: “I want this every day between now and Christmas!”
Meanwhile, M&S has also launched a selection of festive turkey dishes with an unusual twist, including the Turkey Feast Lasagne, which is priced at £10 and features layers of pasta with turkey ragu, sausage meat and cranberry stuffing with bechamel sauce. There’s also a Turkey Feast Pasta, featuring pasta in a maple and mustard mayo sauce with shredded turkey breast, crumbed pork, sage stuffing and cured bacon, and a Turkey Feast Dip, a gravy pot topped with shredded turkey and bacon, cranberry sauce and a stuffing crumb, to be found in stores.
Other new additions to the festive food range that have caught the attention of shoppers include a Cheesy Garlic Doughball Christmas Tree, a tear-and-share topped with garlic butter and mozzarella, and a build-your-own Christmas Charcuter-Tree kit complete with salchichon and chorizo slices, olives, and gouda cheese cubes. And for a sweet treat, new desserts range from the return of the Trifle Caked Alaska to a new Salted Caramel and Tiramisu Cheesecake.
M&S isn’t the only supermarket offering something a bit different for Christmas dinner this year, with some of the most show-stopping choices at Sainsbury’s including a giant Cranberry Topped Pork Pie that serves 12, an Ultimate Sausage Roll Garland, and a Pork, Bramley Apple and Cranberry Stuffing Wreath.
Meanwhile, Asda shoppers can treat themselves to Reindeer-Shaped Crumpets on Christmas morning, and Iceland’s festive range includes new Christmas party food exclusives from Greggs in the form of Mini Sausage Rolls and Mini Steak Rolls. Iceland’s tasty Cathedral City selection also includes new Cheddar and Chutney Mince Pies.
