Maura Higgins appears to have finally broken her silence on her rumoured relationship with Pete Wicks, after the pair were spotted together multiple times before she entered I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! – including in a cosy clinch at the Pride of Britain Awards in London in October.. With the Love Island star in the jungle and TOWIE hunk competing on Strictly Come Dancing, where he is also rumoured to have had a romance with dance partner Jowita Przystal, fans have been left confused.
And despite Maura claiming she was single when she entered the jungle, Sunday evening’s show saw her campmate Oti Mabuse question whether she is single or not. Maura replied: “I am but I was seeing someone before I came in but I’m not in a relationship.” Reverend Richard then probed: “Was it exclusive? Or if I’ve put you on the spot, sorry!”, with Maura having a think before admitting: “I dunno”.

Admitting she was missing him since being in camp, Maura also confirmed it was someone the public may know. As the campmates spoke on their own experiences with love, the reality star admitted she had never been in love before. “Does it feel different this time?” asked Dean McCullough – who was evicted later in the episode.
Maura replied: “It does, but then is it because we’ve known each other for a long time?” as Richard chimed in: “You’d know if he was an a**hole or not, by now. Maura replied with a smile: ‘Yeah, he’s not an a**hole.” Previously, Maura detailed how she had met Pete shortly after Love Island, with the pair sharing very similar personalities and sense of humours.
However, Pete and Maura have never confirmed their romance, and Pete has been battling off reports of a romance with Jowita – who he insists is a close friend.

Maura’s revelation came just hours after it was reported that she and Pete ‘slowed things down’ before she entered the jungle, with a source claiming that Pete has pulled back from Jowita in a bid to win Maura’s heart. A source told MailOnline: “Before Maura entered the jungle, Pete wanted to make their relationship exclusive. But Maura, aware of Pete’s reputation and his close bond with Jowita, decided to slow things down. She gave him an ultimatum: either commit to her or let it go. So she went off a single woman.”
The source continued that Pete has gone ‘all in’ since then and has made sure his relationship with Jowita ‘isn’t as close as it once was’ while he focuses on his feelings for Maura. OK! reached out to Pete’s representatives for comment.
