Anyone hoping to grab some fast food over the festive period from McDonald’s should be aware that the restaurant chain will be operating different hours between Christmas and New Year.
Whether you want to nip out to pick up a quick meal over the busy festive season or get a tasty treat delivered, branches across the North East will be opening later and closing earlier on some of the key holiday dates. While times will vary between restaurants, here are the times for some of the busiest branches across the region as a guide to what you can expect.
The festive opening hours for McDonald’s on Northumberland Street in Newcastle, which is typically open from 6am until 4am seven days a week, show that the fast food restaurant is closed on Christmas Day and will close early on Christmas Eve, as well as opening later on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Diners can likely expect similar changes from other McDonald’s branches.
On Christmas Eve, the Northumberland Street branch will be open from 6am until 9pm, and then after being closed on Christmas Day will open at 8am on Boxing Day and remain open until 4am. Normal hours from 6am until 4am are in place on New Year’s Eve, and on New Year’s Day the restaurant will be open from 8am until 4am.
At the Sunderland High Street West McDonald’s branch, festive hours follow a similar pattern, with the restaurant closing an hour earlier at 9pm on Christmas Eve and then being closed on Christmas Day, before opening two hours later than usual on Boxing Day at 8am. On New Year’s Eve it will operate the usual hours of 6am until 10pm, and on New Year’s Day it will open later at 8am but will also close later at 11pm.
Over in Durham, the Arnison Centre branch, which is usually open 24 hours a day, will be closed on Christmas Day with shorter hours on Christmas Eve (12am until 9pm), Boxing Day (8am until 11.59pm), New Year’s Eve (12am until 10pm) and New Year’s Day (8am until 11.59pm). And up in Northumberland, the Ashington McDonald’s restaurant, also typically open 24 hours, will follow the same festive hours.
