After the news that famous bar chain Hooters would be opening a location in Newcastle, Chronicle Live went along to meet the girls who will be working there.
The global brand is making its way into the North East, with ‘coming soon’ signs adorning a building on Newcastle’s Bigg Market.
A launch date is yet to be confirmed but, nine years on from having plans for a Newcastle location thrown out, Hooters made a fresh application, in the vacant lower ground floor of the large TJ Hughes store.
Despite Hooters being founded in 1983, with around 500 bars across the world, the Newcastle location is set to be only the third in the UK, with the other two being in Liverpool and Nottingham.
One new staff member, Justice Inglis, who is 20, said: “I like the idea of the fun environment working here, and I think it will be a really good confidence boost as well.

“I have a unique name, which comes from my mum’s favourite movie ‘Poetic Justice’, and my dad was in a band called Blind Justice, so that’s the story. The people in the North East are just friendly and it’s always a good night out here.”
Another member of the team, Michelle Andrea Garcia Lopez, 30, said: “I’m originally from Venezuela and live in the UK, and I’m a personal trainer and singing coach outside of this. I wanted to work for Hooters as it’s a very nice brand and you have a lot of opportunities to grow.”

A third new Hooters Girl, Yasmin Blackwell-Frier, 20, added: “I’m from Manchester originally, and I thought Hooters would be a really fun place to work and so far it has been. I’m currently at university studying maths, and the nightlife is a big art of why I like the North East.”

Phoenix-Bleu Leech, 23, who is also joining the team, said: “Hooters is an iconic brand that is known all over the world. I am Miss England 2024, and I’m in the 2025 Hooters calendar, so I got to go to the Bahamas and I met loads of American girls from sister stores, before the pageant in Dallas, Texas.”

Finally, new Hooters Girl Georgia Howe, 19, added: “I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 15, as I used to go to America all the time and I always thought the Hooters girls were so pretty and nice. It felt like a really nice environment, and I also want more girl friends, so that’s why I wanted to become a Hooters girl.
