Noah and Olivia have been dubbed the most common baby names in the North East, as new ONS figures are released.
There were a grand total of 169 baby girls called Olivia born in our region in 2022, with Amelia being the next common with 149 registrations.
Freya (133), Ivy (129) and Isla (123) made up the rest of the top five respectively. Meanwhile, Noah is the most popular name for newborn boys across the region, with a whopping 207 baby boys being given the title in the North East in 2022.
George was the next most favoured name with 187 registrations, followed by Theo on 183, Oliver on 177 and Archie with 169. Noah and Olivia are also the most popular names for babies on a national level – with 4,586 new Noahs and 3,289 new Olivias born across England and Wales in 2022.
Muhammad was the second most popular name for boys on a national level with 4,177 registrations followed by George at 3,699. Meanwhile Amelia was the second most popular name for girls with 2,884 entries, followed by Isla (2,613).
