Naked Attraction’s disgusting backstage secret revealed by host Anna Richardson

Anna Richardson is arguably best known for hosting Channel 4’s quirky dating show Naked Attraction, which broke boundaries during it’s 2016 launch as it’s format of singles choosing a partner based on their naked body was revealed. And while presenter Anna is already in a relationship herself, she says that’s not the only reason she wouldn’t take part in the show as she spills the beans during an exclusive interview with OK!.

Sharing some secrets from the show when probed if she would ever take part, Anna said: “No, I wouldn’t [laughs]! It’s a cop-out for me to say I’m in a very happy relationship but, truthfully, I know too much about what goes on. And it involves a lot of bodily fluids…”

She said there are a lot of ‘bodily fluids’ going around on the show

During the chat, Anna said that Naked Attraction is ‘definitely up there’ when it comes to her career’s ‘pinch-me’ moments. She explained: “On one hand it’s cult viewing, and on the other there’s a bigger message underneath — which is why I wanted to do it in the first place. It’s about acceptance and self-acceptance. And then there’s the documentary I did with my dad. As women, we’re not very good at owning our achievements, but I got a real dopamine hit from writing them down.”

Aside from her TV work and matchmaking, Anna has teamed up with JD Williams for a partnership, admitting she finds herself being ‘represented’ by the brand. “I’m 54 years old, and a lot of the other brands on offer seem to target that ‘skinny, youthful and beautiful’ aesthetic or put a real emphasis on trends. I found myself not being represented but with JD Williams, I feel included.

Anna also opened up about her own body image and confidence

She continued: “When you hit this age, women are at the peak of their lives, in terms of families, careers and spending power — we know what we want and don’t want. We’re a very powerful group, but 73% of my age group felt irritated that society deemed that we should be starting to dress more age appropriately, which is so wrong.”

When it comes to body confidence, Anna shares that she has tried a ‘million diets’ for her fluctuating figure but is now celebrating her body. “I’ve written two diet books and I’ve fronted a ton of diet shows. I’ve done a million diets myself and my weight has gone up and down. Everything changes when you hit menopause, too. Even when I was at school, I was never the thinnest girl in the class. I’m just not built that way — but one thing I am really glad to see is how society is changing. Now that we’re in 2024, we actually celebrate that our bodies are different.”

Anna Richardson and Kelle Bryan have collaborated with JD Williams for its Midlife Redefined initiative, aimed at addressing the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women in midlife. To launch the campaign, the duo helped curate a Partywear Edit which has been styled by brand ambassador, Gok Wan. JD Williams is committed to designing clothes – in size 8-32 – that accommodate the ever-changing silhouettes of midlife women.
