The South Korean drama is centred around a secret competition in which 456 players, all who are in deep financial difficulty, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children’s games for the chance to win a multi-billion-dollar prize fund. Some fans have already binge watched the show, and a shocking twist at the end of episode three left them so stunned they questioned their own eyes.

After a tumultuous game of Red Light, Green Light, the players vote on continuing the games. Little does Gi-hun know, the final voter, 001, is none other than Hwang In-ho, aka the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), the mysterious overseer of the games and a previous winner.

“I thought, ‘Is this really happening or am I hallucinating?'” one fan posted on X after watching episode three. “But it’s true 001 and Front Man are the same person! Did he do all this just to make those people stay? And now he’s also going to participate in those deadly games? OMFG!” Another said: “I didn’t see that coming. Player 001.”

Many are theorising over what the twist means, as a viewer shared: “I have soooo many questions! Is 001 the cops brother (the main bad guy)? ” Another was left in shock, saying: “No way number 001 is that person [shocked face]” while another confessed: “Player 001 completely shocked me…” The chatter didn’t stop there, as Reddit also saw fans sharing their amazement, with one simply stating: “Holy s***, what a twist.”, reports the Express.
