The organisers of the huge Carabao Cup fan zone planned in the heart of the city centre have issued a major update to fans, after incredible demand for tickets in the space of just 24 hours.
Having confirmed that plans were afoot for a fan zone in Times Square for the cup final, after Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg, the team at Evnt Inspirations were hoping they hadn’t tempted fate. And, thankfully for them and United supporters, there hunch that Wembley was on the horizon for NUFC proved to be correct, as Eddie Howe’s men won the second leg at St James’ Park on Wednesday night by the same margin.
Almost as soon as the final whistle was blown at SJP, tickets for the Times Square fan zone officially went on sale and, having given a warning that people would need to be quick if they wanted to be there, on Friday morning,. organisers announced that every single ticket for March 16 had sold out.
By Thursday night, less than 24 hours after Newcastle clinched a return to Wembley and just as Liverpool confirmed themselves as their opponents with a 4-0 victory over Spurs, just 50 tickets remained and just after 10am on Friday, it was revealed that the event was a complete sell out.
As well as two huge screens inside the giant Paddy Fest marquee, fans will be treated to entertainment from live DJs pre and post match, with it also announced on Thursday, that Sam Fender tribute Sam Ofender had also been added to the line-up.
There will be another fan zone in Newcastle city centre on March 16, with NX having one, boasting a massive screen and flag displays, while St James’ Stack has confirmed its entry policy for the cup final, with walk-ins only and no tickets needed to be there on what it sure to be a VERY busy day.
