Newcastle United supporters deliver Liverpool verdict as Bruno Guimaraes question asked

Newcastle United supporters have been having their say after their side were beaten by Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The Magpies’ hopes of securing Champions League football next season suffered a setback as they were beaten 2-0 at Anfield. Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring before Alexis Mac Allister added a second just after the hour mark.

The defeat leaves Newcastle three points off the top four. While the loss was hardly the best preparation for next month’s Carabao Cup final against the Reds at Wembley. And Newcastle supporters have been having their say on what went wrong at Anfield.

Potasiumship said: “What’s going on with Bruno? Shadow of the player he was, and he’s looking really leggy. Massive improvement needed from the whole team, or Liverpool will walk all over us at Wembley.”

Sheffmag agreed, saying: “3 seasons in the Premier League and Bruno is still not up to speed. No spark. No inspiration from our captain. From his position, 2 goals and six assists so far this season just not good enough. We will be better at Wembley. Couldn’t be much worse.”

Gazza949 said: “Joe and Isak are big misses, and Schar and Burn are, sadly, getting past it. Bruno has always been slow, he loves having the ball at his feet, but thinks he is on par with past Brazilian greats. Hard choice between Pope and Dubravka, but the latter is in better form and should be first choice, he can also kick better and doesn’t get flustered.”

Ian692017 said: “Tonali mistakes for both goals. And I have said it for over a season now, Bruno has to go, big games just pass him by. No pace, just falls over looking for fouls. That was Liverpool in second gear, wait till they turn it on at Wembley.”

Daftlad wrote: “Midfield were totally out thought and outplayed, they need to be coached on their defending a bit more. Hall was my pick of the players, who did reasonably well against one of the world’s best players.”

Guthrik1 remarked: “I think we all know why now they went after Guehi in the summer, every week we are seeing Schar and Burn getting slower. Apart from December we have been poor all season, decision-making and effort by players and tactics have been poor.”
