Rihanna says the “greatest thing” about ASAP Rocky is “seeing him be a dad.”
The singer opened up about her relationship with Rocky in a new cover story for Harper’s BAZAAR, explaining how he is as a father to their children. “His pureness. His charm. I’m annoyed because my songs sometimes just live for him more than they live for me,” she said.
“And I’m like, ‘Did you know who cooked you? Do you know who pushed you out?’ And they love him, but when I see it, oh, it’s the best.”
Rihanna will be able to keep seeing how Rocky is with their kids now that he’s officially been acquitted in a trial where he faced two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
The rapper was found not guilty earlier this week and after the verdict was read, he nearly fell over in shock before racing to bear hug Rihanna while others cheered happily nearby.
Later that night, Rihanna celebrated Rocky’s freedom with an Instagram Story post. “The glory belongs to God and God alone!” she wrote in all caps. “Thankful, humbled by his mercy!”
On Valentine’s Day, Rihanna revealed that Rocky pens romantic letters to her when she posted a video of the duo strolling around Paris during Paris Fashion week last June. She captioned the adorable post with “get u a valentine that still writes love letters.”
Last year, Rocky revealed to W Magazine that he always knew that Rihanna would be the mother of his children. “It’s a lot of history between us,” Rocky said. “I was kicked out of this nightclub. They wasn’t giving me no access to it. This is when I’m just starting out, so nobody knows me.”
“I was with Matthew Williams and Virgil [Abloh],” Rocky added. I was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out. We just locked eyes. She didn’t even know us, but she [Rihanna] was like, ‘Yo! Why y’all not letting him in? What’s wrong with you?! Let that man in!'”
Rocky then explained why he knew that she’d mother his children. “I knew from when we were younger. We both did, I think,” Rocky said. “So it was only right when we got older. We just kind of reconnected,” he said, adding that it happened, “kind of, sort of 2019, 2020.”
