Ruth Langsford reveals ‘bizarre’ experience on flight to Australia as she jets off for I’m A Celeb

Former This Morning host Ruth Langsford is heading Down Under for her stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!and has shared some behind-the-scenes snaps from her journey. The 64 year old TV star took to Instagram to document her trip, sharing a picture of her three suitcases with the caption: “Australia here I come! ! Never could travel light! ! ! @imacelebrity.”

After landing in Dubai, she bid farewell to the UK’s grey skies while enjoying a glass of bubbly. Ruth then revealed that her adventure was about to begin and that she would be appearing on the show’s spin-off series, Unpacked, on Friday. She also shared a magazine article about herself, finding it “bizarre” to read about her own journey to the jungle.

Ruth is taking her spot on the Unpacked couch, following on from the likes of Colson Smith from Coronation Street. She will dish the dirt on the camp to the ITV2 show’s presenters, Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers. Ruth’s trip to Australia comes after a subtle jibe at her ex, Eamonn Holmes, earlier this week. The TV star announced the end of her marriage to former co-star Eamonn, 64, in May, reports the Mirror.

The pair had been together for over two decades and have a son, Jack Holmes, 22. According to the Daily Mail, Ruth seemed to take a swipe at her ex, who is now dating Katie Alexander, in a recent social media post where she declared she was “happy” after their split. The report suggests that Ruth posted a photo of her lunch – tomatoes, avocados, and olives – on her Instagram Stories on Sunday. The image also featured a mug with “happy” written on it.

The post, set to the song Brunch Time by Hello EMC, was captioned: “Yum.” Her decision to head Down Under comes after what has been described as “a tough year”, according to a source. Speaking to The Sun, an insider revealed that Ruth’s decision to appear on the I’m A Celeb spin-off show was her way of moving on from a difficult year.

They said: “It’s been a tough year for Ruth and she’s been putting her best foot forward, she’s thrilled to have been asked to appear on this the spin off show and fly to Australia ahead of Christmas.” They added that Ruth’s inclusion has “excited” the show’s producers. “The production team are particularly excited they have landed Ruth to join them as they think she’ll be amazing and give the new format a boost,” the source added.
