Get to be caught ‘red handed’ belting out classics like It Wasn’t Me and Angel, as Shaggy has been confirmed as the headliner for a huge musical festival in the North East next year.
More than 30 years after he landed his first number 1 in the UK with 1993 smash Oh Carolina, the pop and reggae icon is heading to Sunderland to top the bill at the Kubix Festival in Herrington Park on Saturday, July 2005, having not performed in the region for over five years.
Delighted to be welcoming the man who also topped the charts with Boombastic in 1995 and It Wasn’t Me and Angel in 2001, to the event, Kubix’s festival director, Alex Hutchinson commented: “We’ve wanted Shaggy at Kubix for years, and we’re ecstatic that it’s finally happening! He’s an international superstar, a one-of-a-kind artist, and his music brings joy to everyone. To have him headline at Herrington Country Park is something really special.
“As always, we’re committed to keeping tickets affordable, with early birds starting at just £35. As a small, independent team from Sunderland, we’re proud to bring such incredible 90s and 00s talent to the North East while creating a fantastic experience for everyone who comes.”

Shaggy isn’t the only big name on the bill for Kubix 2025, as stars already announced for next year’s festival; include Blue, Louise, Another Level and Gareth Gates.
While the weather didn’t play ball at all, revellers still flocked to this year’s event in their droves, as acts like Busted and Sam Ryder played in torrential rain. And next week, Kubix is moving indoors for a huge indoor concert at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena, headlined by Vengaboys.
