With five weeks to go until the big game, St James’ Stack have confirmed their entry policy for the Carabao Cup Final and fans might want to start queuing now!
Just as it is for every Newcastle United home game, the hugely popular Stack development, which opened right ion the shadow of St James’ last summer, was packed to the rafters on Wednesday night, as Eddie Howe’s men clinched a return to Wembley, two years on from their 2-0 defeat to Man United in the same competition.
Newcastle started the game in a strong position, having brought back a 2-0 lead from the first leg at the Emirates and, after hopes of a dream start were dashed by VAR ruling out Alexander Isak’s fie effort for offside it was Jacob Murphy who made it 1-0 shortly after, when he was there to pounce on the rebound, when Isak’s shot bounced back off the woodwork.
Things got even better for United in the 52nd minute, when Anthony Gordon made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute, putting the tie well out of Arsenal’s reach and sealing a place in the final. And, even before the Magpies’ opponents were confirmed as Liverpool, following the Premier League leaders’ 4-0 second leg win over Spurs, Stack announced how things will work on cup final day on Sunday, March 16.
Unlike the other confirmed fan zones in Newcastle city centre for the match, in Times Square and at NX, St James’ Stack WON’T be ticketed, with entry by walk in only. And that means that anyone wanting to be there on the day will need to be there in plenty of time to soak up the pre-match atmosphere and ensure they don’t miss any of the action on the big screen.
A post on the venue’s social media pages read: “We will be showing the match live on our screens with full commentary. Please note we are a walk in only venue. No tickets needed just make sure you get down to St. James’ STACK as it’s going to be a busy one”
St James’ Stack, brought to the city in partnership with NUFC kit sponsors Sela, has proved a huge success since its opening in August 2024, with TV channels filming there and Howe’s right hand man Jason Tindall being spotted there on numerous occasions.
