St James’ Stack gets cup final makeover in Newcastle as plans for big match confirmed

It’s a place that will be packed to the rafters on Sunday for the match and St James’ STACK has had a bit of a makeover ahead of the Carabao Cup final, after teaming up with a famous sports retailer.

Ever since it opened in August, St James’ STACK has been a massive success, being one of the busiest places in Newcastle city centre every weekend and especially when NUFC are playing away or at home at St James’ park, just a stone’s throw away. Themed very much around Newcastle, with bars like Local Hero, Anthems and Toon Kit Room, lads and lasses wearing Newcastle tops on the toilet doors and quotes from Alan Shearer and Bobby Robson on its walls, the new STACK is set to attract a huge crowd this weekend, both for Saturday as St Patrick’s Day festivities get in full swing and then especially on Sunday, as the whole of Tyneside hopes that the Magpies end their 70 year wait for a major domestic trophy.

Unlike other fan zones in the city, St James’ STACK will be FREE entry on Sunday, but you will definitely want to get there early, as there is loads on before kick off at Wembley at 4.30pm and it is set to get very busy very quickly. And, ahead of a big weekend for the venue, St James’ STACK unveiled a new look for the occasion, taking to Instagram to reveal that they’d teamed up with JD Sports, as the retailer’s logo went up outside and giveaways were announced for fans who get themselves down.

Next to photos of the new look exterior, St James’ STACK wrote: ‘We’ve had a bit of a makeover. We’re proud to announce we’ve teamed up with @jdsports, @nufc’s retail partner, to bring you an unforgettable experience this weekend!

‘We’ve had a full JD rebrand in celebration of the @carabao_uk Cup Final on Sunday. JD will be giving away epic prizes, including vouchers and signed memorabilia, throughout the weekend! Make sure to join us and be part of the action.’

As well as the JD giveaways throughout Sunday, fans will also be able to enjoy live entertainment from musicians, football freestylers and a look back at some of Newcastle United’s greatest ever goals being shown on the multiple big screens and TVs throughout the venue.

The pre-match entertainment starts at 1pm, with a range of competitions on stage including football top trumps and giveaways. Then at 2pm the venue will host a performance by The Belta Reivers, followed by an appearance by a surprise Newcastle United legend.

Football freestyler Ross Brown will showcase his football skills at 3pm, with The Belta Reivers back on stage at 3.15pm, with a performance including the iconic Wor Flags and pyrotechnics. At 4pm the big screen will switch to pre-match commentary, before the game gets underway.
