Stack St James’ packed with Newcastle United fans for cup final – but hundreds still queuing outside

Hundreds of hopeful Toon fans have been queuing outside a packed-out city fan zone to be in with a chance of bagging a space inside to watch the Carabao Cup Final.

Newcastle United supporters were up and out early on Sunday morning in search of the best spot to watch The Magpies take on Liverpool at Wembley. By 8am long queues had already formed outside St James’ STACK as people lined up right round the block in the hope of grabbing a spot.

After opening its doors at 10am the venue was quickly filled with a sea of black and white shirts ready for the 4.30pm kick-off. But that didn’t stop dedicated fans from gathering outside the venue in the hope of being granted entry.

At the time of writing, hundreds of people continue to wait outside the fan zone near St James’ Park as staff operate a one in one out policy.

Meanwhile, inside fans are getting ready for the big game with live entertainment from 11am, including montages of NUFC’s best bits playing on the big screen, a performance by The Belta Reivers, and an appearance by a surprise Newcastle United legend.

At 4pm the big screen will switch to pre-match commentary, before the game gets under way.
