Vito Coppola has made a comeback on ITV’s This Morning with a cooking segment, his first TV appearance since he had to bow out of the Strictly Come Dancing tour last week. The pro dancer left fans heartbroken when he revealed that an injury meant he couldn’t complete the Strictly tour.
The 32 year old was initially replaced by fellow dancer Nikita Kuzmin earlier in January due to a back injury which saw him miss several shows, but on Wednesday, Vito announced his decision to step back from the tour to “take more care” of his body. “Thanks to you all, beautiful people, for the support, for the lovely messages, and for everything you constantly do for me. You make me feel loved and warmly welcomed,” he expressed in a heartfelt social media video.
Fans were clearly upset by the news, with one sharing: “Vito has had to pull out of the Strictly tour due to injury, and I am BEREFT.”
Another lamented: “Vito confirming he’s not doing any shows on Strictly tour what if I CRYYYY.”
Despite the disappointment from Strictly, Vito appeared on ITV on Monday to whip up an Italian dish for This Morning’s Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard. While serving up delicious arancini balls to the hosts, Vito recounted how the recipe was a gift from his Sicilian dance partner’s father, reports the Mirror.
“In Sicily, we used to go in the night, in the forest, you take the best wild mushrooms. You always want to put the parsley at the end, otherwise it becomes very bitter,” he explained during the show.
It’s not Vito Coppola’s first time gracing the This Morning set, as the Strictly sensation previously showed off his culinary skills in the ITV kitchen after bagging the Celebrity MasterChef title. Last month, Nikita Kuzmin, who’s stepping in for Vito on the Strictly tour to partner up with celeb Sarah Hadland, spilled the beans about his tight bond with Vito during an exclusive chinwag with The Mirror.
“I think it is impossible not to keep in touch with Vito. We are probably sleeping next to each other on Facetime,” he shared. When quizzed about how Sarah’s adapting to dancing with him rather than Vito, he revealed: “It is getting used to it. Obviously at the beginning, it is getting used to a new person. From my side, I need to understand Vito and Sarah have a relationship and a way of dancing. I need to ask Vito questions on how they do it, so I can help her.”
He added, “It’s wonderful. It’s actually really a blessing to dance with her. I wish Vito all the best and hope he comes back soon.”
