Taylor Swift has lost more than 100,000 Instagram followers since she faced negative reception from fans at this year’s Super Bowl.
SportsMillions reports that the singer has lost 144,200 followers since she was booed mercilessly at the big game. She still has 282 million followers, however.
Swift attended Super Bowl LIX to show support for her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Chiefs. The singer—who came with her father Scott, brother Austin, and friends Ice Spice, the Haim sisters, and Ashley Avignone—was shocked when her face appeared on the giant screen and was booed by Eagles fans in the crowd.
Instead of hanging onto the disrespect, Swift smiled and found a seat next to Ice Spice.
Following the booing, Swift didn’t make a public statement, but a source close to Kelce allegedly told Daily Mail how he reacted to it.
“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him,” the source said. “He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.
“It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts, being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him,” the source continued. “Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honored for a president to be there.”
The source was referencing President Donald Trump’s message he shared on social media about the booing.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote. “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
Speaking of Kelce, he’s gained 12,370 followers on Instagram since the Super Bowl despite the Chiefs loss of 40-22 to the Eagles.
