If you are no stranger to belting out This is Me in front of the mirror, belt Never Enough like there’s no tomorrow or a partial to a bit of From Now On on karaoke, this could be your chance to shine, as The Greatest Showman is making the jump from the screen to the stage. And auditions to be in the cast are coming to Newcastle this summer.
Released at the end of 2017, The Greatest Showman took the world and the charts by storm, with audiences flocking to see the Hugh Jackman film in their droves, as well as downloading and streaming the earwormingly good songs from the soundtrack, also including A Million Dreams, Rewrite The Stars and Come Alive.
And now, if you love The Greatest Showman and can carry a tune or two and/or have some serious dance moves, you’ll be delighted to learn that open auditions to be in the new Disney stage production, due to open at Bristol Hippodrome in early 2026, are taking place across the country, including in Newcastle city centre, with registration for them set to open HERE on April 16.
The casting team will arrive on Tyneside on Saturday, May 10 for both singing and dance auditions, with different time slots throughout the day if you want to attend. If you wish to partake in singing auditions, you are asked to prepare a cut version (36 bars) of 2 pop or contemporary musical theatre songs. Please bring sheet music. A pianist will be provided. (No backing tracks.)
And for dancers, the brief is to wear dance clothing, trainers, or jazz shoes. Acrobatic skills are a significant plus but not essential. You may be asked to sing during your audition, so please prepare a short pop song with the sheet music.
With a score written by Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, The Greatest Showman has a book by Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw (Mean Girls), with the stage production set to include the majority of the songs from the film, alongside some new numbers.
