This Morning comes off air after ‘inappropriate behaviour’

This Morning temporarily came off air today after being plagued with technical problems. Viewers tuning to see hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on Tuesday’s live show were met with a sign saying simply: “We’re sorry for the disruption.” Fans posted “Now ITV has been disrupted.” and “ITV is off air” after the difficulties.

However, the programme, which is broadcast live from Television Centre in West London, returned to screens in short order after the apology. The disruption came after what some viewers complained was “inappropriate behaviour” from some of today’s presenters following their Christmas party in London last night.

Ben, 49, brought out a swimming costume with his face on it – a gift given to Cat by their co-star Josie Gibson at the show’s Christmas party, which was held at James Blunt’s pub the Fox and Pheasant in Chelsea. He told her: “I retrieved it for you.”

Cat laughed: “I was leaving that behind on purpose” but said she would “pop it on later”. True to her word, after the break she appeared wearing the costume over her clothing and jiggled about while the Barry White track I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More Baby played.

In a post that was liked several times one viewer wrote: “Surely, this is inappropriate and suggestive behaviour from Cat?”

Cat removed her jacket while her co-host laughed: “There he is, the full range of Ben’s attire is available in every really cheap shop online.” She replied: “Who needs fragrance when you got a body like that?”

The This Morning stars gathered at a cosy pub yesterday with Cat and Ben being joined by Friday hosts Demot O’Leary and Alison Hammond plus regulars Phil Vickery, Alice Beer and Vanessa Feltz. It was also the final Christmas celebration with editor Martin Frizell before his departure from the show.

However, there was one person who didn’t appear to have made it, with regular chef Gino D’Acampo not putting in an appearance at the venue, which was decorated with Christmas lights and a tree.
