Radio star Sian Welby found herself in a pickle when she was stuck in a horrendous traffic jam that lasted over three hours – and the pregnant presenter found herself in an awkward predicament when she had to relieve herself at the side of the road.
Expecting her baby within weeks, Sian had no option but to make a dash for it behind some roadside foliage. What was supposed to be a quick comfort break turned out to be painfully hilarious when poor Sian chose a bush swarming with nettles.
The funny episode, caught on tape, shows the 37-week pregnant star hightailing away from the stingy shrubbery towards a more forgiving location. Speaking about the ordeal on Monday 27 May’s airing of This Morning, Sian admitted: “I had to do a wee in the middle of the road. I had to run into the bush and I didn’t dare go in there as it was full of brambles and nettles.”

With nowhere else to go, Sian confessed, “So then I was stuck and I ran to the side of the car. I’m 37 weeks pregnant.” As Dermot O’Leary and Josie Gibson presented the clip during the show, an uproar of laughter filled the studio. Gyles Brandreth, visibly stunned, quipped at Sian: “Is this you coming back from your wee?”
Unable to hold back her laughter, Sian listened as Gyles went on: “Now I’ve seen it all. Morning television isn’t what it used to be, is it?”.

Dermot couldn’t resist adding his bit of humour: “The mystique is definitely gone. But who doesn’t love a pee-pee rustique from time to time.”
To which, good-humoured Sian laughed and retorted: “Do you know what, it was exhilarating.”
Sian excitedly shared her pregnancy news with listeners while on air during Capital Breakfast with co-hosts Roman Kemp and Chris Stark three months ago. During the live show in February, Sian revealed: “I’ve got a bit of an announcement for you! I’m pregnant! I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it from you for so long. […] The lies, the deceit, the mocktails!”

She continued: “I couldn’t wait to tell you. […] This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all on it with me, and don’t worry I’m not going anywhere! This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”
Reacting to the news, Sian’s co-hosts Roman Kemp said “Oh my god! Oh mate I’m so happy for you and Jake as well!” and Chris asked: “Is this real? It is the most exciting news ever!”
