The TOWIE crew is off to Bali, and before jetting off, Roman Hackett opens up on his his Love Island beau Matilda Draper. The lovebirds, who’ve been an item for a few months now, aren’t shy about flaunting their romance on social media, quickly becoming the talk of TOWIE town. Roman, musing over the current getaway, pointed out the shifts in the squad, notably missing Dan Edgar. He said, “This time round a lot has changed to be fair. Dan is not here and we’re missing the main guy!” This highlights the changing tides in the TOWIE circle, with fresh romances and friendships blossoming, like the unexpected spark between former foes Harry Derbidge and Freddie Bentley.
There was a bit of drama when The Sun reported that Matilda’s visa woes had thrown the trip into “chaos”. But, clearing the air, a spokesperson told the Mirror that Matilda wasn’t even supposed to join the trip as she hadn’t met with bosses during the visa application process. Roman’s heartache over Matilda’s absence on the Bali trip was evident as he opened up, saying, “I’m out here without Matilda, which is upsetting, but I’m having fun with the boys.” Diags responded with a touch of sadness, “It’s very sad,” prompting Roman to echo the sentiment, “Very, very sad!”

When pressed by Diags about who he missed more, Dan or Matilda, Roman didn’t hesitate, confessing, “I’m more sad about Matilda not being here. Sorry Dan! But my girl comes first”, reports the Mirror.
The couple recently celebrated their love in a permanent way, getting matching tattoos that read “Carpe Diem,” Matilda took to social media to show off their new ink, captioning the post, “Seize the day with you.” Their whirlwind romance kicked off after Matilda’s appearance on Love Island in 2024, where she initially coupled up with Sean Stone. However, that relationship quickly petered out post-villa.
It was at a party where Matilda and Roman’s sparks flew, leading to an instant connection. A chance encounter in Dubai brought them even closer, with Roman sharing on the show, “We were both in Dubai on our own at the same time in November, and we saw each other every day, so we kind of bonded out there.”

Matilda has effortlessly transitioned into the TOWIE scene, appearing on the show and becoming an integral part of the group, much to the delight of fans who have been captivated by their love story.
Matilda isn’t the only TOWIE favourite missing out on the cast’s glamorous trip to Bali. It seems that long-time stars Lauren Goodger, 38, and Amy Childs, 34, have also opted to stay behind in the UK.
A source spilled the tea to the press, explaining that these trips are “always storyline dependent” and not everyone makes the cut as producers aim for “getting the right mix” of stars with “interacting plots”. The insider dished that Lauren and Amy will be sticking to their Essex roots where filming will “continue simultaneously,” hinting that there’s “always plenty of drama” to come from the home turf, even when some of the cast are causing a stir overseas.
The Only Way Is Essex, Sundays at 9pm on ITVBe and ITVX and TOWIE takes Bali starts Sunday 9 March.
