Travis Scott has opened up more about his time as a Houston Rockets ballboy.
The rapper, who told the world about his old job a few years ago, recalled the experience in a recent Billboard interview. Scott said that he saw Tracy McGrady’s legendary 2004 game where he scored 13 points in 33 seconds against the San Antonio Spurs.
“I was a ballboy for the Rockets when T-Mac was about to leave [the team in the late 2000s] and he was kind of fizzling out,” said Scott. “I always wanted him to win.”
Back in 2020, Scott gave a glimpse into his time as a ballboy during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Where he reflected on who he got the chance to meet.
“We wasn’t too much of a star-studded team at that time,” Scott said. “We weren’t supposed to talk to star athletes, but one day, Melo gave me his headband, signed his headband. Which is so funny, he probably doesn’t remember this.”
Afterwards, Scott detailed an unforgettable memory. “I met Kobe there and he signed a ball for me,” he explained.
When pressed for more info about what he did as a ballboy, Scott joked that he didn’t want to break the “code of honor” between players and ballboys.
“Shout out all my ballboys out there,” he laughed. “Y’all know what’s going down, man. Hold it down for the team players. … We never tell.”
Elsewhere in Scott’s recent interview, the rapper detailed the respect that he has for Tom Brady and his achievements. “12 is one of my favorites,” said Scott, referencing Brady’s former jersey number. “I go to him when it comes to achieving the highest level of greatness. I have a couple of people I can name [when I need advice], but 12 is somebody I can turn to when it comes to that because time and time again, when it comes to having to go and get it, I’ve seen him do it.”
