Tyson Fury has teased fans with news of ‘serious announcements’ following his retirement from boxing last month. The heavyweight champion, known as the ‘Gypsy King‘, made headlines just weeks ago when he declared: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet,” as he stepped away from the ring.
He poignantly added in his message, “I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side. Get up! “.
The 36 year old fighter has been embracing his time outside of boxing, recently spending an enjoyable trip to Disneyland Paris with his family. Joined by his wife Paris and their seven children, Fury soaked in the magic of the theme park, experiencing rides and attractions together.
Frank Warren, who promotes Queensberry, opened up about Fury’s potential comeback. On the Seconds Out YouTube channel, Warren revealed: “Didn’t even discuss it with him,” referring to any notion of Fury returning to the squared circle.
He further clarified, “He’s enjoying himself. He’s had a hard, hard year last year. Tough fights, three training camps… tough times. Missed his family, missed his kids.”, reports the Mirror.
Whether Fury will don gloves again remains uncertain, but for now, he’s making the most of his moments away from the spotlight.
Warren has stated that he wouldn’t encourage Fury to return to the ring, but hinted at an exciting announcement from the former world champion. “I wouldn’t encourage him to fight again,” he said.
“But if he does fight again, who knows, he may do it again. If he does that’s up to him. What I know he’s going to be doing is making some serious announcements about things he is doing outside of the ring that are exciting. I’m not going to say what they are, but they are bloody exciting. Everybody’s going to love it.”
Despite his insistence that he won’t be returning to the ring, Fury’s former rival Derek Chisora believes the ‘Gypsy King’ will face Anthony Joshua. After his victory over Otto Wallin, ‘Del Boy’ commented: “Who knows? Right now AJ is healing himself after the defeat from Daniel Dubois. He’s not ready yet. When he’s ready he’ll come back and I think he’ll come back – not to fight me but to fight the ‘Gypsy King’. I’ll let the public decide [who next]. I’ll let you guys decide.”
Following his recent loss to Usyk, boxing legend Amir Khan believes Fury will be mentally affected. “It’ll be a good, close fight. I think it will go the distance, but it will be good to see because both fighters are at a good level,” he told Betway regarding a potential Joshua vs Fury showdown.
“Anthony Joshua has had some good wins (before Daniel Dubois) and looked really good and revived. Then you look at Tyson Fury. He has to be in that type of position to make it a close fight with Anthony Joshua. If Fury is still at the top and has all of the confidence, then I think Fury wins that fight all day long. But with the last two fights, it’s even and is a 50/50 fight now.”
“Mentally, Fury may have been really impacted and that’s normal. I’m not talking bad about him but it’s normal and happened to me. When I had that fight loss against Lamont Peterson, mentally I was done. Even though I knew I was a better fighter than Danny Garcia, he beat me and knocked me out. I was outboxing him and destroying him but it’s life. I feel Fury needs to come back and have one or two fights and then take the AJ fight. But knowing Fury with the b**** he has got, he will want to jump straight into that fight which would be very hard.”
Meanwhile, Tyson’s wife Paris Fury appears to be being ‘trained’ by the Gypsy King. In a Instagram selfie of the couple, Fury wrote the caption: “@Parisfury1 training her up full time!” Fury met his wife Paris at the age of 17 and they began dating the year after they met, before marrying in 2008.
