BigXThaPlug joined Montana 700 on the remix of the latter’s popular song, “Pipeline.”
“Pipeline” became a major local hit in Texas, causing many of the Dallas native’s fans to nickname him “Mr. Pipeline.” With that in mind, it only made sense to get a fellow Dallas rapper, BigXThaPlug, on the track to do it justice.
BigXThaPlug, of course, blacks out on the booming beat — rapping, “I done spent thousands on these shirts and I don’t even keep ‘em on.”
Check out the “Pipeline (Remix)” video above. It comes off Montana 700’s new mixtape 700 Reasons via Remain Solid/300 Entertainment, featuring guest appearances from Tee Grizzley, Hunxho, Peezy, and Montana’s frequent collaborator Zillionaire Doe.
BigXThaPlug is having a breakout season in rap. We spoke with him back in 2023, and he explained the wake-up call he got from being locked up that inspired him to go harder in his career. “My mom got sick, my granny got sick, then I missed my son’s birthday,” he said. “The world keeps going on without you. Especially when it comes to my son, I want to be there every day.”
BigXThaPlug also gave his opinion on why his records perform so well outside of Texas, too. “Everyone wants to be a drill rapper right now,” he said. “Everybody wants to talk about killing and this and that and the jewelry and the chains. But I just came out and talked about nothing but my state and the greats from my state and people are responding really well. I’m thinking it’s just because it’s different.”
“Everybody wants to hear something different every now and then,” he added. “I switched it up and I did it.”
Today, BigXThaPlug is bigger than ever. His latest album, Take Care, reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and his fanbase continues to grow everyday.
In a recent interview with Billboard, BigXThaPlug opened up about his approach to music. “I feel like for the past decade it’s been a lot of mumble rap. People not talking about nothing,” he said. “I’m talking about something. A lot of the older people who love music, that’s what they grew up on — actual substance. Here’s this young dude that sound old, but he on these young-old beats. I literally mixed everything up so everybody could love it.”
