Wayne Rooney teases joining I’m A Celebrity as wife Coleen settles into camp

Coleen Rooney has been impressing fans of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, chatting about life with husband Wayne Rooney and her court case against Rebekah Vardy. We’ve already learnt that Wayne writes her love poems on hotel notepads, that their first date was to the cinema to see Austin Powers, and just what life has been like for a couple who became famous when they were just 16 years ago.

Viewers have also been thrilled to see that Coleen has lived up to her Wagatha Christie nickname, as she was the first person to figure out that Maura and Richard’s junk yard camp was more luxurious than they had been letting on, noticing that Maura looked and smelled cleaner than someone sleeping on the jungle floor should do.

At the end of Saturday, 23 November’s show, Ant and Dec revealed that Coleen – along with Dean, who can’t seem to spend five minutes without screaming “Wagatha Christie!” at her – will be doing the next Bushtucker trial. And during the spin-off show, Unpacked, host Joel Dommett chatted to Wayne back in England to find out just what he thought about his wife’s time so far in the jungle.

Speaking to Wayne before Coleen’s trial was announced, Joel asked him how it was watching his wife on TV, and Wayne replied: “It’s strange, to be honest, but I think she’s doing a great job. I think she’s shown everyone her personality and her character, and I’m really enjoying the show. She’s done us all proud.”

He added that it had been great to see her settling in over the last few days, and he also said: “I want to see her do more trials. I think part of the experience of going out there and being part of the show is to do the trials and test yourself.” It turns out that both Coleen and Wayne are fans of the show, and watch it whenever he isn’t working. “It’s the one which we always said that if we were ever gonna do one, that’s the one we’d do, and Coleen’s gone out there to test it for us,” he continued.

Joel picked up on Wayne’s answer and said: “You said ‘we’ there, Wayne. Are we gonna get you for the show?” “Maybe if I’m not working,” he replied.

Wayne also noted that it is the longest time he and Coleen have gone without being able to speak to each other since they were kids, and that it was difficult for their children who aren’t able to talk to their mum. “We’re missing her, but we’re enjoying watching her as well,” he said.

Joel also asked about Coleen’s revelation that Wayne writes her poems, and he didn’t shy away from his reply, saying he would have one ready for her when she comes out of the jungle. “To be honest, it’s something I’ve always liked doing, writing poems and expressing my feelings in a different way.”
