Wayne Rooney found himself taunted by football fans who brought up his wife Coleen‘s appearance on I’m A Celeb last night after a bruising match that saw his Plymouth Argyle side battered 6-1 by Norwich City. The former player, who now manages the Championship side said his players were “nowhere near good enough”.
The humiliation led many fans to predict that Wayne, 39, will be dismissed by the club in time to fly to Australia and greet his wife on the footbridge when she leaves. Others taunted him by saying it would be best for the team if they swapped places, with Coleen, 38, taking charge as manager and Wayne flying out to the jungle.

One Plymouth fan fan wrote: “Picture the scene…. ‘Coleen, your time in the jungle is over, it’s time to leave GET YOURSELF OUT OF HERE!!!!’……. and as she walks along the bridge, she clocks Wazza and says ‘f**king hell Wayne, they sacked yous then?'”
Another agreed: “A third said: “Imagine the scenes when Coleen comes out the jungle and meets Wayne at the bridge being unemployed.” A third posted simply: “Coleen and Wayne swapping places would improve us massively.”
Others made the same prediction, writing: “Ah well at least Wayne Rooney will be in Australia in time to see wife Coleen come out the Jungle. Give up on being a football manager Wayne.” Another wrote: “There’s every chance Wayne may get to see Coleen leave the jungle in person over in Australia after that.”
Wayne roasted his players publicly after the performance, the team’s worst since he took over in the summer, saying after the match: “We were nowhere near good enough – we are down to the bare bones with injuries but that is no excuse. If players want to come in the team and stay in the team then they need to perform better than that.”
He added: “I could probably put the under-18 team out there and they wouldn’t concede six goals, so I’m very disappointed, angry, frustrated and the next 24-48 hours are not going to be very nice for the players, but we need to get to the bottom of why this is happening.”

Wayne has posted several times about Coleen’s I’m A Celeb appearance, begging viewers to vote for her to do a trial saying that “me and the boys” would love to see it. After she did get voted – alongside Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough – he added: “Think I could be in trouble here.”
The super-WAG, who has dated Wayne since they were teenagers, is one of the favourites to win I’m A Celeb this year. She is in the top five according to bookies, behind favourite Danny Jones, Love Island’s Maura Higgins, Rev Richard Coles and just ahead of GK Barry.
