Newcastle United will be looking to make their dreams a reality on Wednesday night as they look to book their place in the final of the Carabao Cup.
The Magpies have positioned themselves brilliantly to reach the final after the first leg of their semi-final against Arsenal. Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon’s goals ensured Newcastle hold a 2-0 aggregate lead over the Gunners ahead of the return leg at St James’ Park this evening.
No Newcastle fan is counting their chickens before they hatch but it is hard to deny the strength of position the Toon find themselves in prior to kick off. Arsenal will need to win by two clear goals to take the match to extra time and with a raucous atmosphere awaiting them, that will be no small feat.
So, if Newcastle were to progress to the final tonight, when is the Carabao Cup final? Chronicle Live has all the details.
When is the Carabao Cup final?
The Carabao Cup final shall take place on Sunday, March 16 with the kick off time to be announced in due course.
What is the prize money?
Each semi-finalist will receive £25,000 for reaching this stage of the competition. Should Newcastle make it to the final, they will bank a minimum of £50,000 but if they win it, that will increase to £100,000.
Will the winners qualify for Europe?
Should Newcastle win the Carabao Cup, they will earn themselves a play-off place in the Conference League for next season. However, considering their position in the Premier League table, that is likely to be superseded by United.
Who could Newcastle play in the final?
The winners of tonight’s tie will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Carabao Cup. Their second leg takes place on Thursday night with Spurs holding a 1-0 lead on aggregate before the return leg at Anfield.
When can I buy tickets for the final?
Final tickets will be sold via the competing clubs’ ticket office and details will be announced in due course. Hospitality tickets for the final are available exclusively to Wembley Stadium members but are on sale now.
