It’s been seven years since The X Factor star Holly Tandy appeared on the show, and she’s really grown up since then. When Holly auditioned for the singing show back in 2017, she was just 15 years old. She wowed the judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh with her rendition of If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys during her audition. Holly made it through to the live shows where she was mentored closely by Sharon.
Holly, from Barnsley, was a student back then and finished in seventh place, with boyband Rak-Su snagging the winning spot. Now, Holly, 23, looks completely different and regularly shares glimpses of her life with her online followers, documenting her travels, outfits, and sweet relationship milestones on social media.
Having started dating Lewis Akeister four years ago, Holly shared with her 90,000 followers in July this year, that they are engaged and set to become husband and wife. Lewis popped the question during a romantic getaway to Santorini in Greece following Holly’s 23rd birthday. Holly posted a video of the proposal along with the caption: “24.07.2024 Mr and Mrs Akeister to be”.
In the comments, Holly added: “A massive thank you to all of you who commented we are just over the moon and can’t begin to describe what this bubble we are in right now feels like!! So grateful for everyone who congratulated us, lots of love”. The X Factor host Dermot O’Leary added: “Congrats!X”.
While Holly has recently gone back to her darker hair and looks quite similar to her younger self, there was a period where she didn’t. A few years ago, Holly took her hair from dark brunette to blonde looking almost unrecognisable from her X Factor days. However in recent selfies, Holly has gone back to her roots, and transitioned back to brown for what she calls her ‘bride era’.
The star continues to sing and regularly performs at weddings and events. Not only that but Holly also lists herself as a ‘presenter’ on Instagram and has posted clips of herself interviewing Barnsley talent. Holly has chatted with sportspeople from the Barnsley women and men’s team including Conor Hourihane to Barnsley’s pro boxer Callum Simpson.
Along with her achievements, Holly has also posted some very sad updates including the passing of her grandfather. Fans will remember Holly’s grandad being at her very first audition, and even being moved to tears by Holly’s performance.
Sadly, Holly announced that he had passed away in May last year. In a sweet carousel of pictures, Holly wrote: “Rest in peace to my hero, grandad David. He meant the world and more to our family and he really will be missed. Love from your song bird, Holly dolly x”.
